Digital signage for schools the office can run itself
The screen in the entrance hall should show what changes daily (substitutions, canteen menu, exams, events) without a teacher editing PowerPoint before first period. Connect the sheets and calendars you already keep, and the screen updates itself.
14-day free trial, no credit card · €9 per screen / month

What the screens show
Substitution and timetable changes
A Google Sheet or CSV the office edits; the table slide shows today's changes per class, refreshed automatically. Any timetable system that exports JSON works through the API slide.
Canteen menu
The menu slide or a sheet with the weekly plan, allergens and prices; scheduled per weekday.
Exams, deadlines, holidays
Calendar slides from Google or Microsoft 365 with a countdown to the next exam or the holidays.
Notices
Announcements in the school's colours with start and end dates, the sports-day notice vanishes by itself.
Staff room
Conferences, training, room changes and a Slack or Teams channel as cards on the staff screen.
Corridor infotainment
Clock, weather, air quality, next bus and train departures, headlines from the school's RSS feed.
What a school needs from it
No IT project
A TV plus an Android TV stick, or the TV's browser. Content comes from sheets and calendars the office already maintains.
Emergency messages
A full-screen takeover on every screen from the console or the API: storm closure, evacuation, "please go to the assembly hall".
Several buildings
Each building or campus gets its own screens and playlists, shared slides are reused, one login for the office.
Set it up
- 1
Pair the TVs
Entrance hall, canteen, staff room: install the TV app or use the TV's browser, type the code into the console.
- 2
Connect the sources
Paste the calendar's iCal link, share the substitution sheet, upload the school logo and colours.
- 3
Schedule the playlists
The canteen slide before lunch, the staff-room playlist on the staff screen only, notices with expiry dates.
Frequently asked questions
Where is student data stored?
Screenbutler shows what you put on the screen; it stores no student records. The service is hosted at Hetzner in Falkenstein, Germany, under a data-processing agreement.
Can students see the console?
No. Screens are paired with a one-time code and hold no login. Only invited members can sign in, with roles.
How many screens can a school run, and what does it cost?
As many as you need: every paired screen is €9 a month, net of VAT, with every feature included. Test with up to 10 screens for 14 days free of charge; schools and districts with 50 screens or more get an individual offer.
Does it work on the TVs we already have?
Any Android TV or Google TV with the free app, any TV with a browser, or a Raspberry Pi in kiosk mode.
