What the app does on the TV

Autostart

Boots straight into your playlist after a power cut or when the TV is switched on. No remote, no login, no launcher.

Offline cache

The current playlist and its data are cached on the device. If the network drops, the screen keeps playing and skips slides that need a live connection.

Remote-control keys

Previous/next slide, pause, a status overlay with the screen name and connection state, refresh and reload, all on the TV remote.

Pairing in one step

The TV shows a six-character code once. Type it into the console and the screen is paired for good, with its own name, language and playlist.

Portrait and 4K

Rotate a screen to portrait in the console; the player renders at the TV's native resolution and scales every slide to fit.

Any TV with a browser too

No Android? Open the player URL in the TV's own browser (Samsung, LG), same content, only autostart and remote keys are app-only.

Set-up in five minutes

  1. 1

    Install the app

Open Google Play on the TV and install Screenbutler TV. TVs without Google Play use the player in their browser (next section).

  2. 2

    Pair the screen

The TV shows a code. In the console choose Screens → New screen, enter the code, name the screen and pick a playlist.

  3. 3

    Build the playlist

Create slides with a live preview (announcements, weather, calendars, photos, dashboards) and drag them into a playlist with durations and schedules.

Frequently asked questions

Which devices are supported?

Any device running Android TV or Google TV 8 or newer (Chromecast with Google TV, Xiaomi Mi Box/TV Stick, Nvidia Shield, Sony, Philips, TCL and Hisense TVs).

Does the TV need to stay on?

Yes. Most TVs have an "always on" or "no sleep" setting under energy options. The app itself keeps the screen awake while it plays.

What about autostart on Android 10 and newer?

Android 10+ needs the "draw over other apps" permission for an app to relaunch itself. Grant it once with adb shell appops set app.screenbutler.tv SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW allow; the app's settings page shows whether it is set.

Can I use several TVs with the same content?

Pair each TV to the same screen and they play in sync, down to the second. Different content per TV means one screen per TV, all managed from the same console.

Try it on your own TV for 14 days.

Every feature, up to 10 screens, no credit card. After the trial, €9 per screen per month, cancel monthly.
